Immunization Updates: MenACWY
Posted about 2 years ago
Colleagues,
A recent update from the State Board of Health and Legislative Commission adopted amendments to require at least one dose of meningococcal vaccine, MenACWY, after June 30, 2022 for all students entering the 12th grade for public, private, and charter schools.
Please see below for resources regarding the MenACWY outreach campaign:
- Technical Bulletin Regarding MenACWY for Students Entering 12th Grade
- A previous Technical Bulletin was distributed in July 2021 regarding both the MenACWY and immunization exemption form requirements: July 15, 2021 TB-IZ Exemption Requirement K12 (nv.gov)
- Form Letter for 12th Grade MenACWY Requirement for the chief school nurses/schools to distribute to families and students

- NV WebIZ reminder recall instructions so that providers can act now to avoid the school rush. NSIP has distributed the instructions to rural providers and encouraged the VFC coordinators to distribute the document to their providers. The instructions will also be posted on the home page of NV WebIZ.
- In case firewalls restrict PDF attachments, most of the documents will be available here: School and Child Care Immunizations (nv.gov)
- Immunize Nevada hosted a statewide "Immunize Nevada Special March MenACWY Meeting" on March 3rd at 12pm PST. Dr. Kimvi Kim, a Medical Science Liaison for Vaccines, presented on the clinical details of MenACWY and talked about the statewide requirement. A meeting recap has been sent out.
If you would like to receive more information from Immunize Nevada (IZNV), Nevada's immunization coalition, or attend Immunize Nevada's monthly meetings, please email immunizenevada.org to be added to the community meeting contact list.
Thank you for all you do to protect Nevada's children and communities!
