Caregiver Sick Leave bill (AB90) introduced - please show your support.

Posted about 5 years ago by Maileen Ulep

Dear Colleagues,

The Caregiver Sick Leave Bill has been introduced in the Assembly as AB90. It is basically the same as last session. This allows flexibility for Caregivers who are still working to use their earned and accumulated sick leave/time off to care for their family. There isn't a hearing date yet, but it will be heard in the Assembly Commerce and Labor Committee.

Many employers already allow their workers to use earned paid sick leave for family members – but many still do not.  Employees are more productive and can focus on their jobs if they do not have to worry about missing critical medical appointments or procedures for their loved ones.

To show support for the bill, please contact your legislators and let them know to support family caregivers by voting for AB90. A full list of the Assembly  Commerce and Labor Committee members is at the Legislative website:  https://asm.leg.state.nv.us/Assembly/CL.aspx

Real stories from working caregivers are needed: Family caregivers who can say how being able to use their earned sick leave to care for their family member will REALLY help them keep their job, avoid stress, be a better employee, and most important - do a great job caring for their loved one. Letters from caregivers who do NOT have the ability to use their sick leave currently are needed – and that is why this bill is necessary.  Letters from caregivers who currently CAN use their sick leave - who can say what a big difference it makes to them and their family - would also help. Please help locate Caregivers who are willing to testify / submit / provide letters. Again, a full list of the Assembly  Commerce and Labor Committee members is at the Legislative website:  https://asm.leg.state.nv.us/Assembly/CL.aspx

Thank you, and best regards,
